The Harris & Thurston Process

We take care of the whole kitchen process for you in-house, from design through to manufacture, to installation.

You will have one point of contact from start to finish throughout the kitchen remodelling process. You’ll be well looked after by Ian Harris, one of our highly experienced cabinetmakers.

    Go ahead and installation
The first stage in the kitchen design process is for Ian Harris, our experienced cabinetmaker and installer, to visit you in your home for your kitchen design consultation. (Or if your home is still under construction, we can meet you at our workshop in Haruru Falls.) We cover the Bay of Islands area, including Kerikeri, Waipapa, Paihia, Opua, Russell and further. At your kitchen design consultation, Ian will discuss what you have in mind for your kitchen in terms of looks, as well as functionality. He’ll also measure your kitchen, and discuss your preferences for colour schemes and finishes. If you’ve seen any ideas online or in magazines, please bring them along to your kitchen design consultation. You can also see our gallery for kitchen ideas. As all our kitchens are crafted by hand and bespoke to your needs: we can create something very unique and special for you. Please let us know if you have any ideas for bespoke cabinetry or special storage requirements.
Ian will coordinate with our in-house Kitchen Designer, Adam, to create the concept plans of your ideal kitchen design. Adam’s a whizz at kitchen design in CAD software, and you’ll be able to see your customised kitchen design via 3D modelling. You’ll be able to review your kitchen plans and be able to make any changes you wish for a perfect result. If you decide not to proceed with Harris & Thurston, our kitchen design work is chargeable at $85 plus GST per hour, with a minimum charge of $200 plus GST. This is fully refundable should you wish to proceed with your order at a later date.
Once you’ve approved your kitchen plans, we’ll be able to provide you with a cost for the work. Unless you make changes to your kitchen plans, the price we quote is the price you’ll pay.
Kitchen installations are undertaken by our experienced in-house team. So the people who designed and made your kitchen will also install it. This hands-on approach means that all the little details are taken care of, and the work is completed to the highest standards. We’ll arrange and coordinate other trades (plumbers, electricians

The kitchen renovation process

This is very similar to the kitchen design process, except that 3D modelling isn’t usually done – though it’s available as an option, at additional cost.

We offer free in-home kitchen consultations, where we discuss the changes you’d like, and the new colours and finishes.

Afterwards, we’ll send you a quote for the work, and if you go ahead, our in-house team will take care of the installation, coordinating any other trades for you.

The furniture restoration process

You’re welcome to send us a photo of the item you’d like to restore, or if you’re in the Bay of Islands area, we offer a free in-home consultation.

We’ll then price up the furniture restoration work. And if any spray painting is needed, we do that in-house. Doing the spray painting ourselves mean we have full control over the quality of the materials and the quality of the finish. Read more about our furniture restoration services.
